18 Kids and Counting!

May 10, 2008 – 12:30 am

One couple has already given birth to 17 kids with their 18th on the way. 19 if you had counted a unintentional miscarriage. Story goes that the couple, when they were younger, felt they weren’t ready to have kids so they decided to take birth control pills. However it wasn’t until a miscarriage occurred that they found out from their doctor that sometimes a person can get pregnant only to have the birth control pill cause a miscarriage to happen. Being completely religious and pro-life, they couldn’t allow such a thing to happen. Since then, they said that as long as it is God’s will for them to have kids, they will as many as they come. To date, 17 kids have been given birth with at least 1 more on the way, totally 18.

The couple, from Arkansas, are two real estate agents (more like 1.1 since 0.9 is constantly on maternal leave), who own a few real estate properties. Building their own 7,000 square foot home (an impressive size by any measure), they live completely debt free. I find this amazingly astonishing as most real estate agents don’t make much more than top pharmacists and that’s considering the top tier agents. While I understand they do real estate investment of their own, to be able to feed 20 kids, find time to build such an enormous home from the ground up, and still work, is just wild and totally goes to show, anything is possible.

To date, they have been featured on several news site over the years and I am sure there will be more to come. This has got to be some kind of Guinness World Record.

  4. We have six. We have friends that have seven. For us each pregnancy was more difficult for my wife and if it weren’t for the miracle of modern medicine she wouldn’t have survived the first.

I decided to use another modern day method to ensure no more kids.

Large families are a lot of work, but more importantly (in our experience) a large blessing.

  5. My grandparents gave birth 12 kids. I thought that was great, but now I found the greater one. Especially, it happened in present days.
