Forbes 2008 - World’s Youngest Billionaire

March 19, 2008 – 06:00 am

I’ve known this for about two weeks now but because of all the timestamped posts, this news got delayed until today. Forbes Magazine just released the new list of 2008 billionaire updates and among the list, two very interesting story stood out.

The first relates to the big news last year. As many of you may recall, Bill Gates has been the richest man for well over a decade, yet he was overthrown from his thrown by Carlos Slim in 2007. This year, Warren Buffet took both of them at of the lead and took first place for himself, becoming the new richest man alive (either way this doesn’t matter since his will states when he passes away, every last penny in his name will go to the Gates and Melinda foundation which is run by Bill Gates; as far as I am concerned Gates will probably really own that thrown till the day he dies in technicality). This of course pushed Carlos Slim to second place and Bill Gates to third.

The second, and probably the more interesting news, is Mark Zuckerberg officially got announced as the youngest billionaire alive at age 23. For those unfamiliar with this name, he is the founder of the famous social networking website Facebook. Even more impressive is that he is a SELF-MADE billionaire and the youngest in HISTORY. Now that is truly news worthy. Looks like I can no longer break that record LOL

MISCELLANEOUS UPDATE

VISA stock went live today. If you didn’t read the original post, please do so now: VISA IPO

From my understanding, opening shares were $44.00 a share and first open market value people could buy it at was $55.00 per share. The all day high was $69.00 a share (although some trade accounts stated it went as high as $250 per share or higher - this is not true), and then gradually dropped back down to the current stable price it’s been around $58-$60 per share. It is going to keep on fluctuating throughout the day and probably for the rest of the week as it will continue to try and claim. My personal recommendation (and you should take it cautiously as this is only a prediction), is to buy in now and hold. Your best bet is to buy is around $58 a share and just hold for long run aka 1-2 years from now. It will probably raise to what MasterCard is doing now, which was last seen at $210 a share from what started around $40 a share at it’s own IPO. Good luck and have fun.

  2. Haha. Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth is imaginary $$$ signs floating in the air.

He better sell FB because traffic is leveling, doubt he’ll be able to fetch the $5 Billion that Forbes valued the company at….

  3. I think I will pick up a copy of Forbes Magazine to check this out. They had it at our local library, but I didn’t have time to sit down and read it at that time.
